Description: From 2 to 7 feet tall. Leaves are lanceolate, 4 to 10 inches long and a 1 inch in width, with the margin being smooth or toothed. The heads, nearly 1/2 inch across, produce around 30 or more deep purple flowers with brownish to greenish bracts and purplish pappus. Also known as New York Iron Weed.Location: Moist roadsides, marshes and stream sides
