Description: From 6 inches tall. with leaves in pairs oblong and several flowers per plant. One of the showy early plants named for John Clayton, an early American botanist who supplied the materials for the eighteenth century flora of virginia. Another species, C. caroliniana has much broader oval leaves.Location: Moist woods
