WILD GINGER
Asarum canadense Birthwort Family Aristolochiaceae
April-May Infrequent
Description: From 6 to 10 inches tall. Flower is at ground level or under leaf litter usually has two leaves that are heart shaped, with hairy stalks. Bruised parts have the oder of ginger. Leaf contact causes skin irritation in some individuals.
